Wild Rice Retreat is a center for art, wellness, and meditation that sits among silvian brownstone cliffs of Wisconsin’s Bayfield Peninsula. Its forest and wetlands covered 114 acres and presented constraints that shaped its site-sensitive design.
Previously Wild Rice Restaurant, a local landmark lauded for its food, architecture, and landscape design, the site’s unique environs informed this holistic, environmental destination retreat. An ecologically sensitive design approach and long-term relationship with the site transformed Wild Rice Retreat into a model of place-based design and catalyst for forward-thinking tourism
