The Lakeview Residence reinterprets the classic lake home design in a contemporary way. The landscape that was created captures the aesthetic of lakeside living through careful integration of the refined lakeside home into the existing landscape. The house was placed into the slope of the wooded lot allowing for privacy from the street while connecting it to the lake and framing scenic views beyond. A grass plinth extends the first level of the house into the site, while simple stacked limestone walls articulate the edges of the site against the rolling lakeside terrain.
The relaxed and elegant design approach honors the quality of lakeside living. It blends beautifully with the surrounding lakeside homes that are reminiscent of simple and timeless architecture found in Europe and Nantucket. The outdoor living spaces complement the beachfront yard with tall grasses, hardy perennials, and tree-lined pathways. A wrap-around deck with an outdoor fireplace was designed for family gatherings and for entertaining friends and guests. A private garden room on the east side of the home offers a quiet retreat from the busy lake and shelter from the lakeside winds.
