Travis Van Liere

Travis Van Liere is the founder and principal of TVLS, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 2012, he leads the progressive studio in all aspects of research and design. Travis is a professional landscape architect with over 17 years of experience practicing in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He received his Bachelor of Environmental Design and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degrees from North Dakota State University where he is a visiting critic.  His work experience focuses on the relationships between design intent and material assemblies, bringing extensive innovation, detail craft, and methodology to cultural, institutional and residential projects. 

Prior to founding TVLS, Travis was a design principal, project designer, and project manager with the firm Coen + Partners, an award-winning landscape architecture firm located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  During his tenure at Coen + Partners, Travis was integral to the development of key projects including the Jackson Meadow Community, the P/A Award-winning Mayo Plan #1, the Minneapolis Central Library, the Lavin-Bernick Center at Tulane University, and significant residential projects across the country, including over twenty projects with David Salmela, and the Bull Creek Residence, a 60-acre private estate located on the Colorado River in Austin, Texas.  His work experience within the firm included projects of regional, national and international acclaim.

Travis has guest lectured on material innovation and assemblies at the University of Minnesota, where he is a visiting critic. He has been a panelist for the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association regarding the importance of designer/contractor collaborations.  Travis is a Registered Landscape Architect in Minnesota and North Dakota.
